5.30 This is for my dudes...Can the Celtics take it tonight?

Fabulously Submitted by
Boston Fab! Correspondent A-Marie

This is for my dudes...and some ladies...who don't really care about what's poppin' tonight, aren't into Sex and the City (I know, blasphamy!) and are realy just all about THE CELTICS.

Tonight is Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals where our home team will be in the Motor city looking to put this series to bed! Tune into ESPN tonight at 8:30 PM (Eastern).

If you missed Game 5 on Wednesday - wow - this series has been bananas! It was a close call, with the Celtics sliding to a 106-102 victory over the Detroit Pistons. Ray Allen, had a ‘Stella’ moment and ‘got his groove back’ with 29 points and 5 powerful three-pointers from way behind the arc! He has been struggling for most of the playoff season (don’t worry Ray, Boston is still holding you down!), but he proved to be a dominant force on the court during Wednesday night’s game. And let’s not forget about the huge ‘perk’ we got from Kendrick Perkins. He poured in 18 points and 16 rebounds.

(Kendrick Perkins doing ‘big’ things for Boston during Game 5!)

Photos: NBA.com

*UPDATE: Pistons guard, Richard Hamilton, is expected to play in tonight’s game. His participation for tonight was questionable after he strained his right elbow during Game 5, but he’ll be suited up and ready to play.

Go Celtics!

*Fab Girl Tip The Flyer was small and didn't give much information, such as...price for entry or if it is 21+. I am assuming it will be the same a the other spots $20 for ladies and $30 for dudes. I hear this is a fun spot for some Bostonians who want to check out something different, but it is a drive, so please drink responsibly!
Go at your own risk!

Recap: Feel The Vibe Saturday | Blue Wave

Fabulously submitted by
Boston Fab! Correspondent A-Marie

After a brief stint at Z Square last Saturday, I headed over to The Blue Wave (343 Congress Street, Downtown) for Feel the Vibe Saturdays. Shortly after midnight, there wasn't a line...and the ever-helpful bouncer suggested a great parking spot! You get major cool points for the tip man!

At first, I was concerned. No line = nobody inside, but they assured me at coat check that the crowd was cool. My girl and I reluctantly paid the $15 cover thinkin' this better be good.

Inside, I have to admit that The Wave wasn’t as packed as it usually gets. Some people were dressed very casual while others took the time to get their hair fried, dyed and laid to the side! There were even a few people rocking tuxedos and ball gowns from a wedding that happened earlier in the day.

(Photo: Boston Fab! Correspondent A-Marie and Boston Fab! fan Monique)

Still, the bar was jam packed! Amanda, a bartender, whipped us up something fun, a Malibu Martini, which was a fairly priced $10. It was kind of on the sweet side but soooo goooood! She could not only make a great concoction but she also could handle herself well when it came to helping out the she-had- a-few-too-many-drinks-girl next to me. Ugh.

The best part of the night was the music by far. DJ Eight-2 did his thing! The minute I hit the dance floor my roller set was done! LOL.

(Photo: Blue Wave party-goers feeling that DJ Eight-2)

The Blue Wave will always remain a staple on the club scene in Boston. My man Rob definitely knows how to throw a party!

(Photo: Boston Fab! fan Monique with promoter Rob)

*Inside Scoop* I hear Rob's starting a new event at Privus Lounge called Sophisticate Fridays. The grand opening is this Friday, May 30th!

Check back on BostonFab! for more details!

Recap: The White Party | District Lounge

After almost losing my life trying to find a parking spot, I got in line at District Lounge (180 Lincoln St, Financial District) around 10:30 p.m. Yes, I know that' s kinda early but I knew this party would get packed fast. There was already a short line and the ladies (and I use the term loosely at this point) in front of me were wilin' that they their friend was not admitted to the party due to the fact she was wearing maroon and black. Uh- did you forget that it's called "The WHITE Party"? But J. kept his usual calm and collect self, even when the head bob and snapping fingers came out. Way to keep it classy man. I had your back tho' had sumtin' went down. :)

(Photo: Boston Fab!, DC Fab! and Fab Empire CFO)

Inside the iPod was playing nice chill tunes and the crowd was looking nice. Black people, we look so good in white! You couldn't help but notice the TONS of females, but I think guys thought about how little white clothes they had in their closet and decided to go elsewhere. I can't blame 'em. I was in a mad panic trying to find something and did some serious alterations to my outfit to make it work...man.

Anyways...the dudes (all 19 of them) were looking quite dapper. I could tell they got a little lacks on the dress code after a while, 'cuz some dudes were definitely in there with the multi-colors...but at least they tried to work on the ratio...tried being the operative word.

(Photo: Me and Boston Fab! fan Jax)

I stuck with the bar on the left for my well made vodka tonic. I really liked how the bartenders were also dressed in white. The two female bartenders that made my drinks were very courteous, acknowledged us when we came to the bar and they could make more than one drink at one time! Wow...I was truly thrilled ;)

The thing about a free party is that people are more likely to spend some serious money at the bar; random people got tables, buying drinks for people just because....niiiiicccee. I think that helped with the lack of a DJ. Still, whoever was responsible for the iPod selection did a good job with making the playlist, making sure that it started off slow and got hype towards the end of the night. I had myself a good ol' time dancing.

(Photo: The crowd having a good time)

As for the crowd, it was interesting, I mean, I understand it is REALLY hard to find something classy and white, so a lot of people wore short shorts (panties) and flowy summer dresses but like I said, I understand.

I definitely felt the J. Francois, K.Pritty hustle is back and it paid off in a big way. The management was courteous, much more so than they have been in the past and the photographers were flashing away, giving people their time to shine. I had a good time and it certainly looked like everyone else did too so I give this party an A-

*the minus is for the ratio and the iPod. :)

(Photo: Me and my dress)

*Hey guys...maybe next time instead of all white, can we switch it up with a pattern;  maybe checkers, stripes perhaps a nice paisley? Think about it :) lol!

Recap: Saturday Night Fever | Z Square

It was a Fab! Family affair as DC Fab!, Erika, Fab! CFO and Boston Fab! Correspondent A-Marie and I headed out to Z-Square for So Good Entertainment's, Saturday Night Fever. (I also heard it was co-sponsored by Jammin' 95.5).

We showed up around 11:30 PM to find that the crowd was decent but not packed. The music was smooth R&B being piped through the system and the bar was busy. You saw people coming back with two or more drinks saying, "I am NOT going back there." They really got to come up with a better system at the bar, it's so ridiculous.

I was just about to nod off when DJ On and On finally got on the tables around 12:30 a.m. I gotta take a moment to talk about the role of a DJ, because I don't quite think that Boston really gets it. The role of the DJ is to get the party hype; to get people dancing. It is not your job to identify how many single ladies are in the room, it is not your job to find out who has money in their pocket; you are not there to try out your new music (music you created on your PC), or practice your scratching skills, nor is it your purpose to play only music YOU like and ignore the rest of us who actually paid to be there. Your role, once again is to get us dancing. Don't put it on the bartenders to get us drunk enough to get with your vibe. Be good enough so we do it on our own. Thanks.

Having said that, DJ On-and-On did an okay job. He played a nice mix of Top 40, Reggae and he threw in some oldies as well.

(Photo: Boston Fab! Correspondent A-Marie, Boston Fab!, Fab! CFO Erika and DC Fab!)

The crowd...wow...I already felt the difference of the students being gone. It had a very local feel, which was not a bad thing. It's good to see people from the neighborhood enjoying themselves. There was a huge mix...from YBP's to hood-eriffic, to pimp daddys, to youngin's, and the ratio of men to women was good as well. So, if you were lookin' for a lil' bit of everything, some multi-culture in your own culture then you certainly got it.

Here's an example: picture a linebacker type dude, tall about 6 '2, in his mid-thirties to early 40's sippin...yes...sippin...on a cosmopolitan. I mean hey, I like cosmos so I can see how a guy can like a little cranberry in his life but I mean dude...can you at least ask the bartender to put it in a regular glass? Big hands...little glass...there is something wrong with that. It just is not fab...under any circumstance.

(Photo: The crowd gettin' it...)

Another difference from the Z Square norm was that the people were dancing. I saw guys gettin' hype with no intervention from the ladies. I saw ladies grabbin' dudes, it was just crazy fun and they were dancin' y'all. They were gettin' it!

So Good Entertainment did a good job of getting people in the door and it looked like most people enjoyed themselves. Edgar was on his game for real, running around, schmoozing with the crowd, etc.

 I give this party a C+/B-
