Recap: First Friday's at the MFA

So me and my gals headed out to the MFA (Museum of Fine Arts) Boston for their First Friday's which supposedly was a "friendly take over" by many minority groups including the NSHMBA (Boston Chapter of the National Society of Hispanic MBA's) - but - uh I saw like 15 of us there - serioulsy, no exaggeration.

The last time I went to the event it was outdoors, but since the weather was cloudy they moved it inside. I think it would have increased attendance if they would have said "rain or shine" 'cuz I know I almost didn't go because of the weather.

I really I haven't really spent that much time in the museum and I sincerely have been missing out! There is just so much to see! The area we were in was probably late 1800's and earlier, and was really wonderful ambiance.

The vibe however, was repeatedly but accurately describe by passing patrons as a "meat market". Me and my gals just wanted sit down, have a drink, look at some art and we were continuously approached, actually borderline harassed, by men over 40. Ewwwww! Plus if you didn't have a student ID the cost was $17, then the little "tapas" buffet was like $5.50 and drinks were $9. Talk about an expensive happy hour! Dag!

My suggestion if the MFA wants to increase the diversity at their events they need to cut costs; have a free buffet, give out a free drink ticket, something - 'cuz there is no way I would pay that kinda money for a happy hour...no matter what kinda paintings are on the wall.

To y'all - I do highly recommend you check out the MFA - just see it for free :). On Wednesdays it is free from 4 p.m. - 9:45 p.m. and some holidays. Most students are free with your student ID.

Stay Fab! :)
