MLK Weekend Parties in Boston

It's the first three day weekend of 2008 and it may prove to be bigger than Monday's Noreaster (hopefully not).

Friday Jan. 18

Mayor Menino presents The 25th Annual Martin Luther King Celebration starring Patti LaBelle.

Come here the soulful sounds of legendary singer Patti LaBelle along with Andre Ward and Dre Robinson as they perform at the Wang Theater (270 Tremont Street, Downtown).

Tickets are FREE , but you have to get them in advance (Limit 4 tickets per patron). Tickets can be picked up at the Wang Center or Nubian Notion (57 Warren Street in Roxbury). Box office is open Monday thru Friday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. The concert begins at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Saturday Jan. 19

Mistrie presents the Winter Black Party as a part of Vertigo Saturdays (126 State Street, Downtown) Ladies, wear all black to get in free before 11:30 p.m or get $5 off before midnight. Doors open at 10:30 p.m.

J. Francois and K. Pretty present a Capricorn and Aquarius Birthday Celebration in honor of J. Francois' birthday at Z-Square (14 JFK Street, Cambridge).

And I hear D.J. SYE Daddy will be on the 1's and 2's.

All you choco-holics can overdose on all the FREE chocolate treats: covered strawberries, desserts, a melted chocolate fountain, chocolate martini drink specials and free appetizers. The chocolate gluttony will continue until 1 a.m.

Mistrie, Klutch, JBD Ent., & CAN Ent. Productions (Did they leave anyone out?!) teamed up to hit us with heavy weight D.J. Kid Capri (I was at a party he spun in Vegas and it was hot!) at Club Rumor (100 Warrenton Street, Downtown).
