Recap: Chip Greenridge and Edo.G Birthday Party

After a lovely veggie thanksgiving (everything but the turkey) I decided to work off them sides chillin' with one of my favorite people, Chip Greenridge and his pal Edo.G. I showed up around 11:30 and the party was still getting going although the music was great with DJ Moedee showing off his old skool skillz.

I got myself a drink at the bar and have moved onto the $9 Long Island Ice teas. They pack a punch and you're good for the night. You gotta save where you can. Recession Approved ;)

Z Square staple EDGARD kindly corrected me that his name is Edgard - w/ a D at the end not Edgar. I have been duly corrected! So sawy man you know I you! He is the night event coordinator at Z Square - I'm sure I got the title wrong, but basically if you want to get an event planned in the evening at Z Square, Edgard is your man!!

I only caught the birthday boy for a glimps so no photo op this time, but he seemed to be enjoyng himself.

My wonderfully Fab! friend Jax showed up and after making some new friends who also knew NYFab!! (Yes, we are an Empire) we proceeded to tear up the dance floor.

BostonFab! and Fab! Empire Fan! :)

Fab! Friend Jax and BostonFab!

DJ Moedee and Bruno were all about those old skool beats, heavy on the reggae and a splash of new hits. But I think every other second I was like - Ooooh! Yesss! That's my jam!

The crowd was a-okay a lil' a-round-the-way and by that I mean a lot of people from out of town, grew up in Boston and home for the holidays. Perfect time to wil' out and not have anybody ask you any questions next weekend...not that I would do anything like that...:)

Mini Recap: Friday Night

Okay y'all so I tried....I really tried, but the weather did end up getting to me :( But I did make out on Friday to OM (92 Winthrop St, Harvard Square, Cambridge) - I love this place! And it was PACKED! The crowd ended up being evenly mixed international, as well as the guys to gals ratio...cutie DJ Eight-2 - I gotta say this guy is like the calmest DJ on the planet...it's like he goes into Zen mode when he's spinning - did a great job of catering to this eclectic audience. Even the staff was getting in on the action!

Only draw backs would be the bars; the drinks were weak and the service was slow (though I have endured worse) and there are not enough bathroom stalls - Somebody - I'm not mentioning any names or acronyms ;) - used the women's bathroom instead of waiting for the men's when I was next in line -uh- manners, thanks!) But I did have a great time dancing and minglin'. Def. A.

I also got a chance to have a chat with the Socialite/Community Activist Chip Greenridge and Herby of Poetic Escape. Chip let me in on how the Greatest Minds has a meeting with Mayor Menino to discuss the possibility of funding the creation of proposals for 5 new urban establishments (2 on Blue Hill Ave) in Boston as well as strategize the appropriate way to do "let-outs" and having more police cooperation. You heard it on BostonFab! first! This is one meeting you will NOT want to miss! Details forthcoming! He and Herby also spent time at the Hyatt for Nu Soul and reported that it was well attended and said Black Ice had an outstanding performance.

My sources also say that MJ's bash at Vintage was packed as well and was a good time - drinks were expensive, but that's a given.

Look out Thursday! Looks like Friday is taking its territory back!

Stay Fab! :)

Recap: First Friday's | Whiskey Park

I hadn't been to Whiskey Park (64 Arlington Ave) in a hot minute so I was excited to check it out. I was in a good mood because I didn't have to pay for parking and was there early enough to avoid waiting in line.

At the bar I ordered my regular and it set me back $12. Their signature drinks run around $14. The bartender rushed us a bit, which was particularly annoying since there wasn't really anyone in there yet and my drink tasted watered down. No cool points for you!

*Fab! Girl Tip: Try out the bar in the second room as they seem to make a stronger drink.

All the tables said that they were reserved, but we sat down anyways. I mean how are you gonna have a room full of couches and then say all of them are reserved. Pah-lease. There is even a smaller room in the back that could certainly be used as VIP. Whatevs...

If you've never been to Whiskey Park before, the place, for me oozes sexy with dark brown plush couches and the circular shape of the room so you can keep an eye on that cutie, and the amber lighting really make you feel like you are in this ultra swanky place. Now, don't get it twisted the place is small, but I think the ambiance makes up for it.

Photo: The Crowd starting to settle in

As I got comfortable the crowd slowly started pouring in. And were they lookin' good?? Yes! Most of the gals were in dresses, guys for the most part dressed in nice slacks and collard shirts. It was nice to see people take the dress code seriously. But the women outnumbered the guys by a landslide.

Photo: The grown crowd - I see you Stephen!

DJ Sensae played an eclectic mix of songs....from R&B to Techno to Merengue, but just a smidgen of the latter so people didn't get too upset when the techno came on. He did, however cut some of the songs a bit too short, which caused my dancing to be a bit jarred.

Speaking of dancing, one of the problems with being in Whiskey Park in the ultra swanky sexy setting, is that people don't really dance. I mean, I get it, you look good and you want to catch those "flashing lights" for your Facebook profile, but still...a little more dancing couldn't hurt. Although I do have to note that people were movin' to the in the "dance floor" area near the bar. (I put that in quotes because it so daggone small!)

By around 11:45 the place was packed with people and it seemed like everyone, including myself was having a good time. Some of our fav party goers even stopped by. J. Francois came out to show his support. As did the man-of-many-trades and THE Boston Socialite (I'm jus tryin' to be like you, man) Chip Greenridge. If you don't know THIS cat. I dunno where you've been :)

This party was def. the place to be for ultra swanky, ultra sexy, ultra grown. I give it a solid A as it was a solid good time. Thanks Upper Echelon, the A-List and First Fridays United.

Stay Fab! :)
